Convert Single-Turret Turning Programs to Multi-Turret Programs With Ease With variables such as material type, workholding, tooling, holder type, tool path and spindle speeds to contend with – programming can be a daunting task. If you have a multi-turret machine, this complexity multiplies….but not if you have a Nakamura-Tome machine. With the ‘Drop Converter’ – our specialised programming support software, operators can cruise through such challenges. Drop Converter can transform a program designed for a single-turret machine with two spindles into a program suitable for a multi-turret machine. From a single-turret machine to the SC-100X2 The SC-100X2 is an entry model to the WT and WY series, featuring a movable upper turret and a stationary lower turret. Below is an example of a single-turret program where all operations are executed by the upper turret. To adapt this program for the SC-100X2, the operations for the R spindle, initially done by the upper turret are moved to the lower turret. This can be carried out using the ‘Process Edit’ function screen, which features a user-friendly interface. Machine operators can copy or move a specific programme to a designated turret position on the display. The SC-100X2 can also be used for superimposed machining. The Drop Converter allows for easy program creation by simply selecting the two processes for superimposed machining. From a single-turret machine to NTY3 series The NTY3-100, NTY3-100V, NTY3-150, and NTY3-250 models are three-turret, two-spindle machines. With a capacity to hold a maximum of 72 tools, they embody permanent tooling, which minimises setups and facilitates faster cycle times. Similar to the operation of the SC-100X2 or WT/WY series, the Drop Converter effortlessly transforms a single-turret two-spindle program into a three-turret two-spindle program. Automatic conversion prevents human error Traditionally, operators may manually adjust G-codes and M-codes or correct each reversal individually when creating a multi-turret program, potentially leading to human error. Now, the Drop Converter automates these adjustments to provide safer modifications. As a result, this function relieves operators’ anxiety and reduces the burden of programming for multitasking machines.
